ABOUT US
Western Equestrian Club is a sports club affiliated with Western University in London, Ontario. The Western Equestrian Team was re-established in 2006, and became a Campus-Recreation affiliate club in 2011. Western Equestrian Club’s goal is to provide equestrians attending school at Western with the opportunity to stay involved with horses, whether you are an owner yourself or an enthusiastic rider!
The Club has four different competitive teams that students tryout for and compete with throughout the school the year. The teams have a variety of disciplines including equitation/hunt seat and dressage. Three of our competitive teams compete in the USA: IHSA Hunt Seat, IHSA Stock Seat and the IDA, and the OCEA Hunt Seat Team competes here in Ontario against other universities in their zone. Find more information about our competitive teams by clicking our “Teams” tab!
The Lesson Program is also a great feature of our club that allows students to take lessons at a local barn without needing their own horse or car. This program can accommodate any student, from a complete beginner who would like to become more involved with horses, to a seasoned show veteran with extensive experience. If you would like more information about our Lesson Program, please click the “Lessons” tab!
Western Equestrian Club also offers many socials and events throughout the year to meet other members and become more involved in London’s equestrian community. Some of our events include barbecues, trail rides, holiday parties, team bonding events, and our annual Team Photo Day! Click on the “Events” tab for information about upcoming events, and stay tuned for some new events we will be adding to the 2020-21 club year!
We look forward to you meeting our Western Equestrian Club family!
